The local mass call it is as The MET. It is one of the largest art galleries in the world.

Two millions of exhibits from all over the world with ever kind of imaginable kind of mind enters this royal museum and the tour lead through the an Egyptian temple passing the suits of Armor and Dior dinner dresses to Pieter Brueghel’s Corn Harvest.

A group of American citizens who founded The Met could not have imagined such an encyclopedic collection will take their place in this museum. It was back in 1870 when this folks thought that America needed an institution for the collection of Arts. The originator consisted of many businessmen and moneymen. The listed also included leading artists and creative thinkers. The very prime motive behind foundation of MET was to bring all art and art education under one roof for the people of America. The excess to museum started from February 20, 1872, and was formerly situated at 681 Fifth Avenue.

In 2007, the Met measured a quarter mile long and absorbs more than two million square feet.

Metropolitan Museum stands with pride in 1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd street of New York. Many buses reach from East Manhattan and West Manhattan to the Museum. The buses are also available from The Cloister and The Penn station. Well let me tell you that the museum remains closed on the first day of week apart from Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. They are open from Tuesday to Thursday by 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

The adults are charged with Adults $20, seniors are liable to pay $15, Students can enjoy in $10 and Members excess in museum free Children who are under 12 accompanied by any adult enjoy the sight in free.

The Collection of Metropolitan Museum grew quickly when they accredited the task to Architect Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould to build a Neo-gothic brick in 1874. At present, the original building is surrounded by many adaptations and extensions.

We can actually say that the history of Metropolitan is tantamount with the history of donors. It was genuinely due to generosity of every individual that metropolitan matured to be the finest museum in United States.

Well to recall the particular luck of stroke in 1901 when Jacob.S.Rogers donated seven million dollars to the museums which was then followed by many masterpiece

The Met’s permanent collection is divided in almost

A huge encyclopedic collection of musical instruments dwells in the museum and also the costumes, accessories, antique weapons and armor from around the world resides in museum.

It is also one of the oldest museums in the world. It is located in Palazzo degli Uffizi a palace in Florence city of Italy.

The construction of the building started in the year 1560 under the supervision of Giorgio Vasari. The palace was originally designed for Cosimo I de Medici as the office for the various Florentine magistrates. Thus the palace is named Uffizi which means office. The Palazza degli Uffizi brought together the State achieve as well as the administrative offices and the tribunal under one single room.

The construction of the palace was completed by the end of the year 1581 and after Vasari it was been supervised by Bernardo Buontalenti and Alfonso Parigi. The internal courtyard was very long but was quite narrow it had an opening at a far end to the Arno River.

Vasari was a well known architect as well as a world famous painter. He highlighted the long narrow courtyard with the help of the matching facades as well as continuous roof cornices. The various columns in the palace were filled with the various paintings and sculptures of the various artists of the 19th century.

Over various passing years’ different sections of the palace was opened and was added to the display in the museum. There is a huge display of the collection of Sculptures as well as the paintings which were mostly collected by the Medici family or even commissioned by them. Michelangelo as well as Leonardo da Vinci with many other artists gathered at the Uffizi in 1550 and 1568.

Uffizi was one of the most modern museums. In the sixteenth century the museum was opened to the visitors only by previous request. Later in the year 1765 the museum was officially opened for the public to visit.

The collection of the museum had increased a lot thus later some of the work was been transferred to the various other museums in Florence. To state few examples the famous statues of the museums were transferred t o the Bargello. There is a project that has been planned to expand the museum.

A car bomb exploded near the museum in year 1993 which severely damaged many parts of the museum also five people were killed in this attack. The neo-classical interior, the classical sculptures as well as the Niobe room was severely damaged in the attack but was later restored.

Today Uffizi is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the city of Florence. There is always a huge crowd at the museum hence you are advised to reserve a ticket else you mite require to stand in a queue for minimum five hours.

The nearest airport to the museum is the Regional Florence airport from where you can use train, bus or car to reach Uffizi. If you are using the train option you are required to get down at Santa Maria Novella station you can precede further by bus or foot. If you are walking down the road you will require approximately 20 minutes from the Santa Maria Novella station to reach Uffizi.

The Powerhouse Museum, Sydney is most important branch of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences located in Sydney. The other museums are merely Sydney Observatory. The powerhouse museum has a huge gathering encircling all type of technology including Media, Decorative arts, Space technology, Communication, Science, Furniture, Costume, Steam engines, Computer technology and the transport. The collection is displayed for nearly 125 years. There are about 400000 artifacts displayed in the museum since the year 1988. The electric tram power station which lies in the suburban area of Ultimo in the inner west are is what the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney is more famous for. Originally it was constructed in the year 1902. It is one of the most popular tourist’s attractions in Sydney. The museum publishes a quarterly magazine named Powerline is available at the museum also it is sent to all the members free of cost.

The Sydney International Exhibition of 1879 gave birth to the Powerhouse Museum. Few of the exhibits that were placed in this event were held back to make a new and original collection for the Technological, Industrial and Sanitary Museum of New South Wales. The museum was expected to have an exhibition of these items in a new building and was to be known as Garden Palace. Garden Palace was later damaged by the fire which took place in the year 1882 and in the month of September. Unfortunately the museum required to share the place of its exhibition with the Sydney Hospital’s morgue. The museum moved in the year 1893 in the month of August on its new location on the Harris Street. It was named as Technological museum. The museum also included the Sydney Observatory in the year 1982. The museum moved to Old Ultimo Powerhouse, 500 Harris Street which is its current location in the year 1988. The museum got its new name from its location.

One of the most unique items kept in the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney is the world’s the oldest operational rotative steam engine. Few items which dated 1785 which were made by Watt and Boulton are found in the exhibit. Also there are handful items of London Brewery that belong to 1888. The unique engine is declared by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as the Mechanical Engineering Landmark in the year 1986. Another important item was the Locomotive No 1 which was made in Robert Stephenson in the year 1854. Locomotive No 1 was the first steam locomotive that was used in the New South Wales. The Strasburg Clock Model is the most debatable as well as the most popular among all the exhibits in the museum. The model was made by Richard Smith, a 25 year old watchmaker from Sydney. The model is been inspired from the Strasbourg astronomical clock in Strasbourg Cathedral which is located in Strasbourg. Smith had never got a chance to visit the original model but he made the model based of the picture and the information he got through a pamphlet. The Powerhouse Discovery Centre which is located at Castle Hill was opened for the general public to visit on 10 March 2006.
