Hare Krishna! The Chant gives you a lot of peace and tranquility. It immediately transfers you to a land of meditation and devotion. Right in North India, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, a little away from Agra, you would find a place which is drowned in this chant of Hare Krishna. Mathura – The Land of Krishna and the birthplace of this popular Indian God Lord Krishna. Also called the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi meaning the birthplace of Lord Krishna, Mathura is thronged by devotees who wish to have a glimpse of their favourite god.

It is a complete paradise during the festival times and so Diwali, Janmashtami and Holi and other Indian festivals are celebrated here with the ultimate pomp and fervor.
The Mathura Kusum Sarovar is another attraction in this holy city. This 450 feet long water tank is said to be existing since the times of Lord Krishna. The number of stairs that the tank has on all side intrigues all and the tank is visited by all tourists along with the Radha Kunj which is another water body in Mathura.
Krishna Janmabhoomi is the place where Lord Krishna was born and it is believed that the present temple is built over the spot where the prison where Krishna was born existed.
After all the sightseeing, shopping is the next best thing to do here. Religious tourism coupled with commercial activity is the only thing that flourishes here in Mathura. There are many items which are hot favorites here. Peda, the sweet is very popular and Mathura Peda is indeed very delicious. The Khurchan is another semi liquid variety of sweet that is famous here.
